We have been helping Greyhounds for 20 years and pride ourselves in finding the dogs the best homes possible and matching them to their adopters. All our dogs are neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, go home with collar & lead, house collar, muzzle, 4 weeks free insurance, information pack and a lifetime of support and back up should you ever need it. We carry out homechecks before allowing the Greyhounds to leave our care, this is nothing to worry about, we just like to make sure a Greyhound will fit into your home/lifestyle. He joined us from the stray kennels a couple of months ago and his personality is really starting to shine through. He is approximately 3 years old and a very loving, affectionate boy who loves to jump up for cuddles. He enjoys his walks and his lead manners are getting better every day. He also loves zoomies in our secure field. He is mostly very good with other dogs, although he can try to be dominant at times, so he will be best in a home on his own or with a quiet female (pending successful introductions). He walks on lead regularly with other dogs and has met other breeds proving to be a very good boy. We know nothing about his past, but having taken the time to get to know him over the last couple of months, he is a very kind natured boy who just wants love, cuddles and to be close to his humans. He will need a sighthound savvy home, without children or small furries. He'll need a fully secure garden to enjoy. She's a very friendly girl who loves people and her Greyhound friends. She's a big girl at 32kg, but that just means there's more of her to love and cuddle . She's such a happy girl who bounces like tigger with excitement, and she's going to make a lovely pet to a very lucky home. She's a sweet natured and gentle girl with a wonderful temperament. She can be quite nervous when first meeting people, but she soon comes out of her shell with a bit of gentle understanding and love. She walks nicely on the lead and loves her Greyhound friends. She's also been excellent when introduced to other breeds. The only thing Matilda isn't keen on is travelling, so a home where she doesn't have to travel too much would be ideal for her. He's the most loving, kind and gentle boy and all of us here at Barley adore him. Melvin originally came to us a couple of years ago and found a lovely home but sadly he was returned to us as his temperament changed and he didn't want to go for walks which resulted in him snapping at his owner a few times. When he came back into our care it was clear that he was uncomfortable with his feet, he didn't want to walk and laid down a lot. On closer inspection we found that he had 7 corns on various different pads on his feet and they were obviously causing him a lot of pain and discomfort (his owners vet had missed this). He had treatment and surgery for his corns and has recovered really well. It's been over 6 months since his treatment and we are pleased to say he's remained sound with no more corns appearing and he is really enjoying his walks again. He gets so excited to go out and loves playing with his toys in the field. Having previously lived in a home he is housetrained and is also an excellent traveller. He's such a great boy and deserves to find his loving forever home. A quiet home where be can enjoy nice rural walks would be ideal for him. He'd like a home without children or small animals. He's made it clear that he is totally bonkers! But also one of the most loving and friendly dogs we've ever met. He adores people and loves to jump up for cuddles, although he does tend to forget that he's 38kg of massive oaf at times!. He's excellent with his Greyhound friends and we've started his introductions to other breeds but this will need to be continued carefully by his adopters as he does have a high prey drive. He loves his walks and although he can be strong initially, he soon settles down to walk nicely on the lead. He loves to play and enjoys off lead time in our fully secure field. We know Mufasa is sadly going to be a challenge to home due to his size, prey drive and strength but he is one of the most amazing, funny, clever and loving boys we've ever had in our care and we know he will make an amazing pet to the right understanding and sensible home that is willing to give him a chance . He joined us in June and is such a lovely boy. Prince originally found a lovely home directly from his trainers kennels where he was excellent in the house but sadly he had to be returned after a couple of months due to an altercation over a toy with the other dog in the home so he is now with us to search for his forever sofa. Prince is the most loving boy with people and he loves jumping up for cuddles. He enjoys his walks, is perfect on the lead and loves to play. He does need an understanding home though as he has a high prey drive and needs to continue his positive introductions to smaller breeds (this was started in his first home and will be continued by us here until he finds his new home). He'd like to be an only pet where he can have all the love, fuss, attention and toys to himself. He loves everyone but he is a big lad so due to his size and the fact that he likes to jump up he will need a home without children. His temperament towards people and other dogs can also be unpredictable at times so we've taken the decision to keep him at Barley as a sponsor hound where he is safe and he has a solid routine everyday.
