If you would like to offer a forever home to one of our retired Greyhounds we ask that you fill in our pre-adoption questionnaire; this will help us find the perfect hound for you! This information will not be shared with any other parties.
Please note that we carry out a home visit before we allow any of the Greyhounds to leave our care - this isn’t usually anything to worry about, we just like to make sure the Greyhound you have chosen will fit in and we can answer any questions you may have. Gerald
Our lovely boy Gerald is now ready to find his forever home He is a very sweet whippety lurcher type boy, weighing around 19kg. He joined us from the stray kennels a couple of months ago and his personality is really starting to shine through.
He is approximately 3 years old and a very loving, affectionate boy who loves to jump up for cuddles. He enjoys his walks and his lead manners are getting better every day. He also loves zoomies in our secure field.
He is mostly very good with other dogs, although he can try to be dominant at times, so he will be best in a home on his own or with a quiet female (pending successful introductions). He walks on lead regularly with other dogs and has met other breeds proving to be a very good boy.
We know nothing about his past, but having taken the time to get to know him over the last couple of months, he is a very kind natured boy who just wants love, cuddles and to be close to his humans. He will need a sighthound savvy home, without children or small furries. He'll need a fully secure garden to enjoy.

Spice
This striking girl is 4 year old Spice. She's a very friendly girl who loves people and her Greyhound friends. She's a big girl at 32kg, but that just means there's more of her to love and cuddle . We've started her introductions to other breeds but she does have a very high prey drive so this will need to be continued carefully when she's in a new home. She's such a happy girl who bounces like tigger with excitement, and she's going to make a lovely pet to a very lucky home. She would like an home with a secure garden to enjoy and she can be homed with another Greyhound/large breed providing introductions go well. She isn't cat or small furry friendly.

Spice is with us in Essex and we rehome across the Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and North London areas. We also home to South Lincolnshire, Suffolk and Norfolk providing potential adopters are willing to visit us first.

Matilda
This beautiful girl is 2 year old Matilda. She's a sweet natured and gentle girl with a wonderful temperament. She can be nervous when first meeting people, but she soon comes out of her shell. She walks nicely on the lead and loves her Greyhound friends. She's also been excellent when introduced to other breeds. The only thing Matilda isn't keen on is travelling, so a home where she doesn't have to travel too much would be ideal for her. She is a lovely girl and will be an amazing pet to a very lucky home. She'd like a home with a secure garden to enjoy and without small children as she needs a quiet home.

Melvin
This beautiful boy is 6 year old Melvin. He's the most loving, kind and gentle boy and all of us here at Barley adore him.
Melvin originally came to us a couple of years ago and found a lovely home but sadly he was returned to us as his temperament changed and he didn't want to go for walks which resulted in him snapping at his owner a few times. When he came back into our care it was clear that he was uncomfortable with his feet, he didn't want to walk and laid down a lot. On closer inspection we found that he had 7 corns on various different pads on his feet and they were obviously causing him a lot of pain and discomfort (his owners vet had missed this). He had treatment and surgery for his corns and has recovered really well. It's been over 6 months since his treatment and we are pleased to say he's remained sound with no more corns appearing and he is really enjoying his walks again. He gets so excited to go out and loves playing with his toys in the field. Having previously lived in a home he is housetrained and is also an excellent traveller.
He's such a great boy and deserves to find his loving forever home. A quiet home where be can enjoy nice rural walks would be ideal for him. He'd like a home without children or small animals. He can be homed as an only pet or with a Greyhound girl providing introductions go well.

Nessa
This pretty girl is 5 years old Nessa. She's settled in well and her personality is really starting to shine through. She is absolutely bonkers but so full of love to give. She is full of energy and loves to be on the go. She enjoys her walks and playing in the field but she can also be very loving and cuddly . She's excellent with her Greyhound friends and we have started her introductions to other breeds which are going well when on lead, but she does have a very high prey drive so care needs to be taken. Nessa has a zest for life and she is going to make an amazing pet to a very lucky home. She'd like a home with a secure garden to enjoy. She isn't cat friendly.

Mufasa
Handsome 4 year old Mufasa joined us in September and he is settling in well. He's made it clear that he is totally bonkers! But also one of the most loving and friendly dogs we've ever met. He adores people and loves to jump up for cuddles, although he does tend to forget that he's 38kg of massive oaf at times!. He's excellent with his Greyhound friends and we've started his introductions to other breeds but this will need to be continued carefully by his adopters as he does have a high prey drive. He loves his walks and although he can be strong initially, he soon settles down to walk nicely on the lead. He loves to play and enjoys off lead time in our fully secure field. We know Mufasa is sadly going to be a challenge to home due to his size, prey drive and strength but he is one of the most amazing, funny, clever and loving boys we've ever had in our care and we know he will make an amazing pet to the right understanding and sensible home that is willing to give him a chance .

Danny
Gorgeous 5 year old boy Danny is a very cuddly and laid back lad. He’s excellent with his Greyhound friends and has started introductions to other breeds which are going well when all dogs are on lead but he does have a high prey drive so care needs to be taken. He’d like a quiet home where he can enjoy nice walks. He can be homed with other Greyhounds providing introductions go well and also sensible older children but he isn’t cat or small animal friendly.

Prince
Gorgeous 5 year old boy Prince would love to find his forever sofa. He joined us in June and is such a lovely boy. Prince originally found a lovely home directly from his trainers kennels where he was excellent in the house but sadly he had to be returned after a couple of months due to an altercation over a toy with the other dog in the home so he is now with us to search for his forever sofa.
Prince is the most loving boy with people and he loves jumping up for cuddles. He enjoys his walks, is perfect on the lead and loves to play. He does need an understanding home though as he has a high prey drive and needs to continue his positive introductions to smaller breeds (this was started in his first home and will be continued by us here until he finds his new home). He'd like to be an only pet where he can have all the love, fuss, attention and toys to himself. He loves everyone but he is a big lad so due to his size and the fact that he likes to jump up he will need a home without children. In the right understanding home he is going to be the most amazing, loving and loyal pet.

Timmy
Gorgeous 6 year old boy Timmy joined us over a year ago. He's a sweet natured boy with a fun and loving personality. He loves to play, especially with cuddly toys or footballs and he walks well on the lead. He loves his Greyhound friends and we've begun his introductions to other breeds but he does have quite a high prey drive so these careful introductions will need to be continued in his new home and his adopters will need to be understanding of his prey drive.

Barley
This handsome boy is 9 year old Barley. He's a happy boy who loves people and doesn't stop wagging his tail. He loves his Greyhound friends and enjoys his walks. Although he can't live with other breeds, his introductions to other breeds when on lead are going well. He will need a home that will allow him time to settle in and get used to the new sights and sounds of home life. He will need a home without cats or small children (due to his size). Barley is a lovely boy who will be a great pet in the right home.
